Travelling with Your Pet: Tips and Pet-Friendly Hotels

Do you know which animals are considered pets?

Of course! During the pandemic, we all learned that a toy dinosaur doesn’t count as a pet, at least it's not a valid excuse to go out for a walk and skip the restrictions.






Well, it depends on where you go, for example, I read that Iberia allows dogs, cats, fish, turtles and birds (except poultry and birds of prey) to travel in the cabin. Well, at least birds of prey can fly on their own, lucky them, no boarding queues to deal with!

On the website of Spain’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fishing and Food, you’ll find all the regulations for travelling with pets. The rabies vaccine is usually mandatory and must be administered in advance, so check the deadlines carefully.

Prepare a suitable carrier or restraint system adapted to your mode of transport.
Making short stops along the way will help your pet feel more comfortable and make the trip calmer and more pleasant for both of you.

What to pack

Whenever I open my suitcase on the bed to start packing, my cat jumps straight inside (typical cat behaviour). Just make sure to get it out before packing your clothes! Make a checklist of everything your pet needs:

- Their passport
- Lead or leash
- Blanket
- Regular medication
- And of course, don’t forget their favourite toy
